Device Booking Policy

These Terms & Conditions govern all diagnostic, repair, storage, and related services provided by PartMasters (Pty) Ltd. By leaving a device for inspection, repair, or storage, the client acknowledges and accepts these Terms & Conditions as displayed at our premises or provided electronically.

1. Device Ownership and Authorisation

  • The client confirms that they are the lawful owner of the device or are authorised by the owner to approve inspection, diagnostics, repair, and service. The client indemnifies PartMasters (Pty) Ltd against any claims arising from unauthorised service requests.

2. Device Condition at Intake

  • Devices may be inspected at check-in and visible defects, including scratches, dents, cracks, missing parts, or other damage, may be recorded and photographed.
  • The recorded condition shall be considered accurate unless disputed by the client at the time of booking.
  • Devices received in damaged, liquid-affected, tampered with, or disassembled condition are serviced at the client’s risk.

3. Limitation of Liability

  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd exercises reasonable care in handling, storage, and servicing of devices.
  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd shall not be liable for:
    • Existing or undiscovered defects
    • Failure of already compromised components
    • Damage resulting from the inherent condition, age, or quality of the device
    • Data loss or corruption
    • Software or operating system issues
  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd shall only be liable for loss or damage proven to result from gross negligence or wilful misconduct.

4. Risk of Repair

  • Certain repairs involve inherent risk and may result in further damage due to the nature or condition of the device.
  • The client acknowledges and accepts this risk.

5. Storage and Security

  • Devices are stored on secured premises; however, storage remains at the client’s risk subject to reasonable care exercised by PartMasters (Pty) Ltd.
  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd shall not be responsible for loss or damage caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control.

6. Data Responsibility

  • The client is solely responsible for backing up all data prior to service.
  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd does not guarantee data integrity, preservation, or recovery.
  • The client releases PartMasters (Pty) Ltd from all liability relating to data loss.

7. Diagnostic Access Authorisation

  • The client authorises PartMasters (Pty) Ltd to access all components necessary to perform diagnostics or repairs, including hardware, software, operating systems, user-installed applications, logs, and BIOS/firmware settings. Where required, the client must provide passwords, remove security locks, or grant necessary access to enable diagnostics and repair.

8. Replacement Parts

  • Replacement parts may be new, refurbished, or compatible equivalent components unless otherwise agreed.
  • Compatibility with existing hardware or software cannot be guaranteed where third-party components are used.

9. Quotation and Charges

  • A diagnostic fee may apply even if the client declines repair.
  • No repair work will be performed without client approval of the quotation.
  • Additional faults discovered during repair may require further approval.

10. Force Majeure

  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd shall not be liable for delay, loss, or damage resulting from events beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to theft, fire, load shedding, natural disaster, civil disturbance, or internet or communication failures.

11. Unclaimed Property

  • Clients will be notified when devices are ready for collection.
  • Devices not collected within 60 calendar days of notification may be considered abandoned.
  • After reasonable attempts to contact the client, PartMasters (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to charge storage fees or sell the device to recover outstanding repair, storage, or administrative costs.
  • Any surplus proceeds will be handled in accordance with applicable consumer protection legislation.

12. Storage Fees (If Applicable)

  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd reserves the right to charge reasonable storage fees for devices not collected within a reasonable period after notification.

13. Customer Acceptance of Terms

  • By leaving a device with PartMasters (Pty) Ltd for inspection, repair, or storage, the client confirms that they have read, understood, and accepted these Terms & Conditions as displayed at the premises, provided electronically, or made available upon request.

14. Third-Party Repair Transfer

  • Where specialised repair services are required, PartMasters (Pty) Ltd may arrange for the device to be transferred to an independent external repair company.
  • The client will be informed prior to such transfer.
  • Upon transfer of the device to the external company, responsibility for the device, repair services, and any associated risks passes to the external company.
  • The client acknowledges that any agreement, payment, warranty, or dispute relating to services performed by the external company is strictly between the client and the external company.
  • PartMasters (Pty) Ltd shall not be liable for the conduct, workmanship, delay, failure, loss, or damage arising from services performed by external companies after the device has been transferred.
